Department Manager for Minerva Imaging
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Department Manager for our in vivo pharmacology department with a focus on oncology research.

Minerva Imaging’s vision is to become the leading contract research and contract development organization for targeted radionuclide therapy and imaging, enabling improved treatment regimens for cancer patients. Our focus is on the use of advanced animal models within oncology and cardiovascular diseases and in vivo molecular imaging for translational research and drug development.
We aim to excel in delivering customised cancer radiopharmaceutical research and serve as an extended research team to our collaborators. We have built a global leading R&D platform for targeted radionuclide therapy and Contract Development and Manufacturing (CDMO) to enable integrated planning and faster execution of promising new radionuclide theragnostic projects in close collaboration with leading researchers, biotech, and pharmaceutical companies.

Our plans for the new Department Manager
As Department Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the in vivo pharmacology department, ensuring the successful execution of our rodent studies, and contributing to the advancement of our capabilities in the field of oncology research. In addition, you will be managing a great team of scientists and technicians, supporting them in their work, and developing their specialist skills.
The ideal candidate has great experience with leadership, people management, and a broad scientific knowledge in the field of in vivo pharmacology and oncology. Furthermore, you possess excellent communication and collaboration skills. Your ability to effectively set direction, drive performance, provide your team with guidance and advice, and create a work environment where everybody feels heard, is highly valued.
You will join the Research Management team, and thereby become an integrated part of the R&D activities and business at Minerva Imaging. You will report to the Chief Development Officer (CDO).
Tasks:
- Lead and manage a department of 6 scientists, 2 laboratory technicians, and a team of 9 animal technicians.
- Foster a collaborative and dynamic work environment, promoting professional development and mentoring of team members.
- Help coordinate and prioritise the work tasks and allocate resources within the team to address daily requests from stakeholders across the organisation.
- Provide scientific and technical expertise in the field of rodent oncology models to guide and support research activities.
- Oversee the planning, design, execution, and reporting of animal studies, ensuring adherence to timelines and budget.
- Develop and implement strategic plans for the department in line with the overall company objectives.
- Collaborate with other managers and stakeholders across the company to help ensure that the business runs smoothly and ensure the continued development of Minerva Imaging.
Qualifications:
- A MSc or preferably a PhD in biology, oncology, pharmacology, or a related field. A strong background in in vivo pharmacology (rodents) is essential.
- Minimum 5 years of industry experience (biotech, pharma, or CRO) in drug discovery or preclinical research, with a focus on in vivo pharmacology and oncology.
- Proven track record of managing people and leading research teams in an industry or academic setting.
- Strong knowledge of oncology research, including tumour biology, in vivo cancer models, and mechanisms of actions of anticancer drugs. Knowledge about imaging and targeted radiopharmaceutical therapy is an advantage.
- Deep understanding of preclinical drug development processes and translation of in vivo pharmacology data into actionable insights.
- Proficiency in designing and conducting in vivo studies in rodents, including familiarity with various animal models and techniques.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
